Back in late November, my workplace held a Charity Pamper evening for staff and friends of staff in aid of Naomi House Children's Hospice. One of my colleagues that organised the event asked me if I would bake a cake to raffle off, as well as having a stall for the evening. I was so excited- of course I said yes!
As I knew it was only going to be a small event, I created about 15 lemon , 15 chocolate and 15 vanilla cupcakes to sell. I really enjoyed making them- my favourite would have to be the lemon cupcakes; I love the pretty silver balls and the delicate yellow flower placed on top of the lemon butter cream. The recipe I used to make the lemon cupcakes is brilliant as you can really taste the lemon coming though; the sharp lemon mixed with the sweet butter cream was scrumptious!
I also made a hand painted Victoria Sponge Cake (see my portfolio for pictures) which took me a good day to make, but it turned out really well. Being the perfectionist that I am, it's never as good as I think it's going to be, but I'm still learning and practising, and hopefully it's getting better and better each time.
I'm really pleased to say that the cake raised over £117 for the charity, which I'm so pleased about, as it's such a nice contribution to make and it makes my work worthwhile!
